11 Points Routine For Developing A Civil Dog.

This routine, I believe, should be incorporated into just about any pp or LE scenario of the dog who accomplished all the points. There are exceptions where logistically this is not possible, like in surprise attack and long track and bite, building searches, and so on. However, even in the early stages of these scenarios, this can and should be incorporated, and at the end of the search scenarios, this can or should be incorporated into the training of these scenarios.

Routine:(Alpine K9)

1/ command the dog on a leash to alert and then command to attack still standing civil ( no equipment) decoy or decoy out of site. Dog turns on or not, in any case, go to 2/

2/ negative challenge by civil decoy

3/ dog turns on, and the decoy escalates.

4/ decoys run=reward for the dog by running away (victory) and by tripping his prey drive.

5/ decoy (Preferably) out of site puts on sleeve quickly (or any other type of equipment)on the armed arm and comes back at the dog in a negative way ( defense).

6/ dog turns on at the decoy and looks in the decoy's eyes = focuses on the decoy in this case, in a natural inherited civil way and not on the sleeve. ( that is if the dog is natural or trained civil way properly)

7/ decoy offers a bite, and after the bite like good actor simulates pain and submission.

8/ decoy pulls out of equipment but keeps the stick in the hand which had the sleeve on.

9/ comes back at the dog in a civil way - not for the "steal" of the equipment as it is practiced by many, but in a threatening way towards the dog.

10/ dog should refocus on a decoy who challenges him in 100% civil way ( learn how to do that!!!)for a while, and then just before the dog peeks decoy runs away and is pursued in a slower way by the dog on a leash = dog pulls his handler who is slowing him down. At this point, the decoy can run away or goes to 5/. Do not repeat more than 2x-3x.

11/ CONCLUSION this is a civil agitation, and it is not about the sleeve at all. It is about a dog and a bad man. Dog's reward is victory and decoy running tripping good feeling of the prey chase which dogs get from chasing a ball or another toy except in this case he is not chasing toy or equipment, but he chases the man.

Remember, prey drive or defense drive is inherited, and what it is used on or not used on is learned. Thus in civil agitation, you use it on a man and not on the equipment!!!!!
