Training Your Dog Naturally by Going Along With It

So your eighth mo old dog is protective in your home but not in a board and train facility or camp situation?

Here is advice I got 30 + years ago. In training, especially in new training, always "go along" with the dog. Your dog is protective in your home because it is part of her. All you now need is for her to understand that she needs to employ this natural protectiveness on YOUR command ( and in some other then-board and train scenario). She is not performing because you want her to be protective for some other reason than is her nature, probably because of your trainer's preconceived scheme of training, which is NOT part of your dog and your relationship with your dog. My suggestion is to convince your or another trainer to "insert" himself into the scenario where the dog s already working ( at your home) as a bad guy - that is in the scenario where the dog already is naturally protective. In that way, you will be miles ahead in your training and will save yourself a lot of money as well. The dog will be going "along " with you and you with her. You will be a team. NOBODY can do that for you in some in-kennel training. Remember Protection is teamwork of a team (or pack ) of 2 . You and your dog.
